ROGERSVILLE - For the second time in as many months, the Rogersville City School board has opted not to proceed with a renovation project.
    In April, the board voted to table any further discussion on a plan to renovate a nearby building, owned by the Rogersville Housing Authority, to create office space. At Tuesday's meeting, the price of preliminary drawings from an architect put the brakes on a proposed renovation of the school's old gymnasium and locker room area.
    "Last month the board gave me permission to contact the architect but when I saw the cost, $35,000 just for architectural renderings, I wanted to bring this back to the board," RCS Director Sherry Terry said, suggesting the project should be put on hold.
    Terry also told board members Stephanie Eidson, the Coordinated School Health Director, for RCS has been re-hired, contingent upon funding from the Tennessee Department of Education.
    "They are still working on the budget in Nashville and this is one of those programs that has been on the chopping block and off the chopping block," Terry noted. In other business:
    •  The board approved a bid of $6,663.67 per moth from Service Solutions for cleaning services;
    •  The board approved pest control bids of $45 per month for the school and $27 per month for the cafeteria from Service Plus and $300 per year from Leo's Pest Control for termite prevention;
    •  Delayed action on a lawn maintenance contract until Terry can meet with three low bidders to determine if they are completely aware of the scope of the project.  Those low bidders were Ace Lawn Care for $7,450 per year, Christian's Lawncare Service for $9,996, and Creative Landscapes for $8,490 per year.  Bids were also received ranging from $18,000 to $26,000.
   •  Agreed to meet June 30 at 7 p.m. to finalize a budget based on action by the Rogersville Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
