NASHVILLE — Senator Mike Williams (I-Maynardville) on Thursday praised the State Building Commission for its approval of the early design phase of a project for a new Armed Forces Reserve Center in Mount Carmel.
Williams has worked with members of the commission to gain approval for the project.
"Any project like this that we can help bring in to Northeast Tennessee is a very good thing for the entire region," stated veteran lawmaker Sen. Williams.  "I appreciate the excellent work of the members of the State Building Commission.  I have enjoyed working with them on this and other projects and look forward to doing so in the future."
The project is listed as being presented by the joint venture of Shaw & Shanks / Reedy-Sykes Architects.
The estimated project cost is $20,534,000 in federal funds.
Sen. Williams represents Senate District 4 which consists of Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, and Union counties.
