BULLS GAP — A Wednesday morning collision involving a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Norfolk Southern freight train resulted in serious damage to the truck, but no serious injuries.
According to emergency workers, the driver of the truck was waiting for a northbound train to pass the White Horn crossing, on Guthrie Gap Road. The crossing has a double section of track and after the northbound train cleared the crossing the driver reportedly pulled into the path of the southbound train.
The female drive was the lone occupant of the vehicle, which was knocked off the roadway and down an embankment. Although an ambulance responded to the scene, the woman was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation and information was not available as of press time Thursday
