ROGERSVILLE - Matthew Goldman of Johnson City completed Rogersville's Fourth Annual Firecracker Four Miler in 23:42 to win the Road Runners Club of America State Championship this morning.
The race loops through downtown historic Rogersville, starting and ending at the Rogersville City Park.
While Goldman was a couple of minutes off the record time set in 2006 by Tommy Antenuci, he won the race comfortably with no other runner in site of the finish line when he crossed.
Tracy Brooks of Harrogate won the women's title, finishing with a time of 27:15.
The top runner from Hawkins County was Church Hill's Mykal Miller, who placed third overall with a time of 24:10, just 28 seconds off the state championship pace.
