ROGERSVILLE - Hawkins County Budget Committee members want to
know a little more about the county's finances before they agree to fund School Resource Officers
at all county schools.
The Budget Committee voted Tuesday to reject a $300,000 budget amendment from the Hawkins County School System to fund the SRO positions for the remainder of this school year. The amendment was "contingent upon the County's commitment" to fund the positions in subsequent budgets. The amendment was to be considered at Monday's meeting. The committee voted to delay consideration of the proposal and include it in the 2013-14 budget preparation process. Because the meeting was held at press time for the Midweek edition details will be in the Weekend edition.
