ROGERSVILLE - Turning a
toothbrush into a weapon resulted in additional criminal charges against a Church Hill man already
housed in the Hawkins County Jail. Christopher Shane Seiber, 36, 978 Valley
View Road, Church Hill, was jailed on a burglary and a failure to appear charge. Now he faces
a charge of introduction of a weapon into a penal institution. Corrections
Officer Tyler A. Law reported that on January 1, 2013, he was conducting a search of the C pod at
the facility. "I was in C-205, at inmate Seiber's bunk. Inside his mat
I found an item rolled in a piece of toilet paper. Upon unrolling it I found a toothbrush
that had a melted end with a piece of metal in it," Law wrote. The officer
said that he asked Seiber if the item was his and the inmate"nodded yes."
"Upon further inspection I concluded that his item could be used a weapon," Law
