ROGERSVILLE- Fast, fun, easy and effective are four words that
sum up the workout offered at Rogersville Curves and owner Jo Lynn Province says the workout is
quick too, lasting only 30 minutes.
Curves, which will celebrate its
eighth year in Rogersville in September focuses on women supporting other women in getting healthy
and offers a workout all set to music.
"It's a 30-minute workout, circuit
training, strength training and cardio," Province said. "We recommend coming in three times a week
to see results, but a lot of the gals here come everyday."
Since the
beginning of this year, the fitness center has also added Zumba classes at different times during
the week.
"We are doing seven classes a week with Zumba and the girls are
loving it," Province said. "It is included as part of their membership."
Province also states that there is no age limit when it comes to the workout at
Curves.
"All the equipment is hydraulic, so those gals who have fragile
joints because of arthritis can still come, but we also have very young females, as young as high
school," Province said.
Another added bonus to a Curves membership is a
monthly weigh in and measure at the center to keep track of member's progress. Province believes
it's important to look past just the number on the scale to see total health.
"It is exercise for good health," Province said. "You will lose weight and tone up, but you
have to look at your numbers for cholesterol and blood pressure."
Province
believes that above all, Curves is a benefit to women because it is personal time for
themselves. "We call it the 'girl power half-hour,'" Province said. "We stress
that you have to make time for yourself and that's why they enjoy coming in and seeing other women."
In April, Rogersville Curves is participating in their Annual Food Drive.
Instead of a down payment, new customers can contribute a bag of canned food items, which the
business then gives to the Shepherd's Center. The promotion runs through the end of the
month.
The Rogersville Curves is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to
1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The center is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Curves is a part of the
Silver Sneakers program and is covered under some insurance plans. For more information, call (423)
