CORBIN, Ky.— Mark Evans of Rogersville took the lead at the start of the 15-lap feature for the Kentucky-Tennessee-Carolina Mini-Cup Series at Corbin Speedway on Saturday August 16 and led all the way for his fourth win of the season.

He wasn’t entirely happy with the victory, however, as his primary competitor, young Blake Orr of Oliver Springs fell out after four laps with a broken throttle cable.“I want to win this championship,” Evans said after the race, “but I want to race Blake for it.  He’s a good competitor.”

He added, “I have to thank my sponsor, Vic Hill Racing Engines, for the super power in this thing right now.”
Tony Taylor of Candler, N.C. celebrated his 65th birthday by driving his Taylor Racing Number 5 to a second place finish behind Evans’ Vic Hill Racing Engines Number 25, and Michael Rice of Marshall, N.C. was third in the Rice Racing Number 1.
Defending series champion Paul Burford of Barnardsville, N.C. was fourth with the Burford Racing Number 35, and Milton Metcalf of Marshall, N.C. took fifth in the Metcalf Racing Number 3.
Orr and his Greene’s Farm & Garden Number 20 were placed sixth on the basis of laps completed.
Evans set fast time for the Mini-Cups with a lap in 16.027 seconds during time trials, and Taylor won the trophy dash.
