Ethel Knight, age 92, of the Persia community, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 following a brief illness. 

Ethel was born March 2, 1916 in Cocke County.  At an early age Ethel joined Glendale Methodist Church where she later met and married Francis Knight in 1934.  In 1943, the couple and their two small children moved to Hawkins County.  Mrs. Knight and her late husband, Francis loved their farming heritage.  Having a dairy farm, the family was active in 4-H work and also in the Persia community. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Knight traveled throughout the United States and foreign countries.  Ethel was an active member of Persia Baptist Church where she enjoyed her Ladies Sunday School Class until her declining health. 

Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Knight, Sr.; parents, C.B. and Cressie Bible Turner; sisters, Mildred Jones and Mary Ellen Turner; brothers, Elmer Turner, Bruce Turner, Roy C. Turner, Robert Turner, Paul Turner and Fred Turner 

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Wright and husband, Leon; son, Francis Knight, Jr. and wife, Jerri; grandchildren, Teresa Stanton and husband, David, Norman Wright and wife, Bridget, Frank Knight and wife, Kim, Debbie Farmer and husband, Scott, and Susan Knight, all of Rogersville; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.  Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M., Sunday, August 24, 2008 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. John McPheron, Elder John Arnott and Rev. Scott Farmer officiating.  Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 25, 2008 at Persia Baptist Church Cemetery.
