H. L. Davis, Jr., age 75, of Rogersville passed away Monday, August 18, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, TN after an extended illness.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was of the Baptist faith.

H.L. was preceded in death by his parents, Horace L. and Laura Johnson Davis and infant sister, Ruth Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Blanche Burton Davis of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Linden Davis of Rogersville, James and Amy Davis of Church Hill; three granddaughters, Katie, Hannah and Danielle Davis all of Church Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Ival Greene and husband Glen of Rogersville, Mrs. Jean Winstead of Johnson City, Mrs. Callie Waddell and husband Lewis of Wilmington, NC, Mrs. Jessie Kegley and husband Bob of Bland, VA; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville or anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Horne officiating.  Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Highland Cemetery, family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession.

Honorary pallbearer, Carl Burton, pallbearers will be Randol Burton, Lewis Waddell, Bob Kegley, Glen Greene, Michael Collins, Trevor Burton and Jeff Ausband.
