Juanita Wallen Nelms, age 92, of Rogersville, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008.
She was a direct descendant of the earliest settler families before Tennessee statehood and Plymouth Colony. She was shift supervisor at Holston Ordinance during WWII.
Mrs. Nelms was a retired school teacher who taught at Ebbing and Flowing Springs School, Sam Long School, Rogersville City School and Lakeview School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville where she was a librarian for forty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Nelms; parents, Leonard Lloyd Wallen and Josephine Pridemore Wallen; sisters and brother-in-laws and their spouses, Ella W. (Lloyd) Catron, Pearl W. (Herbert) Williams, Effie W. (Lester) Robinette, John (Addis) Nelms, Mitchell (Ann and Tess) Nelms, Farley (Sybil) Nelms, Maxie (A.J.) Edens, Ida (Bert) Hyder, Maude Harkleroad, Margaret (Tim) Hill, Gladys Nelms; nephews, Maurice Williams, Robert Williams William (Bill)Farley NElms, Jr., J. Edward Hyder, Charles Harkleroad, Herman Hyder; nieces, Inez C. Stone and Marie C. Carson, Cleo Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Michael W. Nelms and daughter-in-law, Daisy Lou Nelms of Rogersville; grandson, Lloyd M. Nelms and wife Ginger of Lafayette, GA; granddaughters, Diane N. Lussier and husband Eric of Corryton, TN, Mary Lou N. Redmond of Clinton, TN; great grandchildren, Caleb Lussier, Jacob Lussier and Madison Redmond; nieces and nephews, Billy Sue Britton, Betty Ann Hurd, Rachel Butcher, Martha Potter, Jean Price, Ann Reuschel, Jim Johnson, Max Hyder, Bert Hyder, Jr.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Lindsay officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Highland Cemetery.
