Rufus Nelson Rhoton, age 66, of Rogersville went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 21, 2008 at his home.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Rogersville VFW Post # 9543. He was a member of the American Legion # 21 and Disabled American Veterans # 59. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and friend and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Faye Housewright Rhoton and father, Rufus Sidney Rhoton.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Painter of Tazewell; sister, Linda Fritzpatrick of Tazewell; two sons, Sidney Rhoton and wife, Sandra Peters Rhoton of Weber City, VA and Wesley Rhoton and wife, Jennifer Jones Rhoton of Rogersville; two daughters, Carla Rhoton Wood and Heather Pickel and husband, John of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Davis, Kathryn Grace Rhoton, Madison Faye Rhoton, Cynthia Annalise Rhoton and Seth Trent Rhoton; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darryl Housewright officiating. Following the funeral services the Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard will conduct military graveside honors at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
