Mary Elizabeth “Dumpie” Lawson, age 78, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday morning, November 20, 2008 at the Bristol Hospice House.
    She was a charter and active member of West View Baptist Church.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hasson Chapter #179.  She had many special friends including classmates from Rogersville High School class of 1948.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Esther Woods Smith.
    She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Mack L. Lawson of the home; two sons, Ronnie L.  Lawson and wife Debbie of Rogersville and Gary Lawson of Rogersville;  grandchildren, Christy Wilson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Brandon Lawson and wife, Brandy of Rogersville, Gary Lawson, Jr. and wife, Ashley of Rogersville and Amy Lawson of Rogersville;  great-grandchildren, Logan Helton, Lauren Horton and Garrett Lawson all of Rogersville.
    The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008 at West View Baptist Church and at the residence of Mack Lawson, 307 Ross Circle, Rogersville.  Funeral services followed at 8 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Ray Mullins and the Rev. Earl Cummings officiating.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Highland Cemetery.      
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff of the CVICU Unit at Bristol Regional Medical Center and to the staff of the Bristol Hospice House.
