James “Dave” Brooks, age 71 of Rogersville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Wellmont-Bristol Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Jo Brooks; son, Scottie Brooks; daughter, Wendy Brooks; parents, Haskell and Gertrude Brooks; brothers, Paul and Johnny Brooks, and sister Sue Russell. He is survived by his son, David Brooks and wife, Gina of Rogersville; daughter, Melissa Williams and husband, John of Bulls Gap; grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Gracie and Sydney; brothers, Bill and Tom Brooks both of Rogersville and Kenneth Brooks of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 5 - 7 p.m.Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Talmadge Collins and the Rev. Randy Epperson officiating. The Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard will conduct military honors at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in Highland Cemetery. Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville is serving the Brooks family.
