Betty Davis

Betty Davis peacefully went to sleep in our Lord Jesus at her home in Bear Hollow Tuesday morning, August 17, 2010, to join her husband, Robert, a daughter, Donna Marie, her dad, Fred Yonas, her grandparents, Bob and Verdia Manis, Jim and Zelphia Yonas, father-in-law, James Davis, sister-in-law, Wanda Baker, brother-in-law, David Davis, and many friends and family, after a strong and fearless fight with cancer, always faith believing and never complaining. She was a member of Lafollettes Chapel Church. She worked for the Hawkins County Board of Education for many years as a bus driver and owned the Name Brand Shoe Store in Bear Hollow. She was also the Mother to The Davis Family Gospel Singers, and she loved to travel and sing with her husband and children.Those longing to see her again through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, a dear mother, Ollie Yonas of home, daughters, Rena and Jeff Hurley of St. Clair, and Sam and Wayne Thomason of Rogersville, a son and Pastor, Jody and Lori Davis of Surgoinsville, mother-in-law, Louise Davis of Rogersville, grandchildren, Nichole and Cody Fields, Tabitha Hurley, Daniel Hurley and Jessica Williams, Julie Thomason, Haley Thomason, and Maddie Davis, great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Caylee Fields, Neveah and Shae Sizemore, Tye Fields, Corbin and Tallen Hurley, brother, George "Mountain Man" Yonas of Surgoinsville. She was a second Mom to Joe Lawson, Carol Tharpe, and Lisa Young. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lucille and Bob Hipshire, Betty and Mack Cody, Ruth Haley, Judy and Mark Allen, Kay and Bobby Wheeler, Teresa and Ernest Davis, brothers-in-law, Ira and Gena Davis, and Mike Davis, and several nieces and nephews, and special friends "The Golden Girls" Betty was "Rose" , Shirley "Blanch" Helton, Jenny "Sophia" Fields. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice and Caring Choice "Tammy Matthews". Sleep wonderful Momma, we'll see you in the morning.The family will receive friends anytime at the residence and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Ernest Davis, Rev. Russell Davidson, and Rev. Bob Simpson officiating.
