Jennie Bradley Payne, age 89, of Rogersville, passed away on February 3, 2010 at Signature Healthcare of Rogersville. Jennie was born on May 5, 1920 to Joseph Clinton and Laura Phipps Bradley. Both preceded her in death. She was married to Eldridge Jefferson Payne, who preceded her in death as were her three sisters, Clintena Bradley, Annie Watterson and Mae Charles. Jennie was a faithful member of the Russell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and held several positions in the church. She was also a founder and member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #231. Jennie is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Payne of Rogersville, her son, Eldridge Jefferson Payne (Diane) of Los Angeles, California, two grandchildren, Eldridge J. Payne and Mona Michelle Cage of Los Angeles, California, six great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, very special niece, Roberta Watterson McClintock, nephew, Ralph Watterson and great great niece, Morgan Lee of Kingsport, faithful sisters-in-law, Mollie Pope of Rogersville and Ethel Rogers (Phillip) of Dayton, Ohio, a devoted friend, Paralee Couch of Rogersville and her two daughters, Teresa Pigue of Lynchburg, Virginia and Cheryl Johnson of Nashville. The family will receive friends any time at the residence of her daughter, Mary Lou Payne and from 1 - 3 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at Russell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Irving Greene and Pastor C. Roy Charles officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell Crest Cemetery.
