Archie Keith Chambers, age 87, of Rogersville, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, January 24, 2010, at Church Hill Nursing Home following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He was a member of Siam Baptist Church in Elizabethton, a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Air Force, and a member of Joseph Rogers VFW Post #9543. Mr. Chambers was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and was a member of Union IBEW Local #365. Mr. Chambers was a fifty year Master Mason belonging to Sinking Creek Masonic Lodge #0575. Archie never met a stranger and always gave of himself selflessly to anyone who needed a helping hand. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Ercelle Wallace Chambers, who passed away November 16, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents, David and Vernie Nave Chambers; and siblings, Baby Joseph, Iley Beatrice, Jessie, David, and Robert Ralph. He is survived by two daughters, Lana Chambers McDonald of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, and Iley Chambers Harris and husband, Rick of Rogersville; grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor Bost and husband, Mike of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Whitney Harris Tilson and husband, Mike of Telford and Kevin Harris and wife, Rebekah of Piney Flats; and two great granddaughters, Quinn and Nora Bost of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; sister, Flo Smith and husband, Troy of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews. The family wants to express a special thank you to Church Hill Nursing Home nurses and aides, and special friends, Roy and Geneva Crownover. The family will receive friends anytime at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Iley and Rick Harris and from 1 - 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Masonic services will follow at 1:45 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Following the Masonic service, Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard will conduct military graveside honors in Highland Cemetery. The Rev.
